The PSTN switch off refers to the planned phase-out of the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), which has been the backbone of traditional landline telephone services for many years. As telecommunications technology evolves towards digital and IP-based solutions like Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and mobile networks, telecom operators and regulatory bodies in various countries are gradually retiring the aging PSTN infrastructure. This switch off involves discontinuing support for analogue and ISDN services, encouraging businesses and consumers to transition to more modern, efficient, and cost-effective communication technologies.

It's important to understand that you can continue using pre-existing legacy PSTN services until the complete switch-off in 2027. However, during this period, you will not be able to purchase any new services or modify any existing. 

 The move towards IP-based systems allows for greater flexibility, scalability, and integration with other digital services, marking a significant shift in the telecommunications landscape worldwide.
